Can your money drive itself?

Sounds a little off, right. Who ever thought it would happen?

Turns out that it is one of the things that wealth managers are experimenting with.

You don't have to make the allocations every month and figure out how much you need to allocate.

You simply let the software know what your goals are and over what period of time.

And it takes you there. Hopefully.

You don't have to spend time over things you don't understand.

Equity. Derivatives. Bonds. Passive Investing. ETFs. Hedge Funds. Leverage And so on and so forth.

Turns out most people only have an interest in getting returns on their money.

Not the effort involved in making it happen.

Finance professionals understand how these things work.

But step outside it and you'll find that explaining the difference between debt and equity funds is exhausting

That's why you have a tag line which says 'Mutual Funds Sahi Hai'

Mutual funds are right for you. Yes, they do go into exquisite detail but I'm sure most people are zoning out.

Money is not easy to understand. Spending it is.

Which is where the problem lies.

So, will you trust a company to make the decisions on your behalf?

Or you’d prefer to stay at the wheel, even if you aren’t paying attention?

Calming a Coronavirus storm

A drug developed in India for treating psoriasis has now been approved to manage Coronavirus patients fighting for their life.

In some patients, the virus attacks the immune system and creates chaos.

It's called a cytokine storm.

And there's little doctors can do when the virus makes the immune system turn on itself.

So Biocon tested a drug approved for psoriasis on Coronavirus patients who had the problem.

The entire process of going from testing to approval was managed in just 120 days. It was tested in over 100 patients.

From a point when their immune system went from chaos to calm in a few days and they recovered.

The best part. It needs to be used only in cases where the doctors know that the patient is going to slip into that stage.

This is lateral thinking and execution at its best.

Taking an approved drug and re-purposing its use for another condition

The process of getting a drug approved could take years. So, you have to modify the weapons you already have.

As Kiran Majumdar of Biocon says, "Had this happened in the US, people would be shouting from rooftops"

Itolizumab has moved into stage 4 of testing. In Covid times new therapies have their best chance at accelerated success

The Economic Times Redesign

Have you taken a look at what the new ET looks like online? Quite an improvement over what it used to be.

The biggest visible difference is the way the desktop and mobile are unified.

Earlier, it was like navigating one of India's dense and chaotic side streets.

Now, it's like driving through an avenue.

There's no doubt that the volume of news available is a waterfall.

Most times, you got away after clicking through endless hoops of ads that flashed, danced and covered the text.

Hopefully, they've found a way to keep the chaos on the sidelines.

On the desktop, the pink headings pay homage to the category of financial news.

Now, there's a method to the madness.

It's as if streets have been cleared after a night of Diwali merriment.

We all have woken up to it. The pile up of old newspapers that firecrackers are made up of.

It's an analogy of what the newspaper industry has become.

A model that lasted for over a century has had to come to terms with what the word news even means.

Or what business means.

So, for a business newspaper to do a makeover in the heart of Covid times is a sign of the times.

It's probably the best opportunity to reorient the business
