How do you pronounce your name?

Go to your profile page on the LinkedIn app on your mobile and you can record your name.

Just like the dictionary tells you how to pronounce a word

So, when you meet a foreign prospect, check out what their name sounds like.

And surprise them by saying it right the very first time.

What it tells the other person is that you made the effort.

You took care of the small details. And those things matter

It's touchy. People are sensitive about their name.

They may not tell you straight off but the wrong signals are sent

I've heard stories about how people in the US are unable to get even simple Indian names right.

They can manage Raj. But Vinod become Vy-nod.

I've always wondered how Polish and Russian names are pronounced.

They don't have vowels. So how do people get their tongues around them?

The Japanese have a ritual around the handing over of the business card.

You have to bow, study the card and treat it respectfully. Like an extension of the person.

It's also a form of power play in India. Not everyone is handed the business card at a meeting

What's your experience?

The incredible 37 minute sales pitch

Gmail launched in 2004.  Now, it's a massive machine dominating the market.

So, who would be foolish enough to take on Gmail?

Rewind to 2004 and you remember how difficult it was to get invites?

1 GB storage as compared to Yahoo and Hotmail, which were then providing  a measly 2-3 MB

Sounds unbelievable in today's scenario.

What does the next generation of email look like?

What are the problems that need to be solved?

That's what a new email service called Hey figured out.

You pay $100 a year when Gmail is free.

They've spent over 2 years building it and the effort shows in every detail.

It's aimed at people who've spent decades dealing with email.

Who understand it is both - a convenience and a monstrosity.

It's a master class in making a pitch for a defined audience

There are only screen shots of the product and the founder, Jason Fried takes you through it.

The attention to the UX and UI is painstaking.

Plus the fact that it is built for the desktop, mobile, iOS and Android.

Looks like the premier version of email has arrived

Check out the pitch

MmHmm. What if Zoom and Google Meet had a baby?

This is the realm of the impossible. But who knows?

We're shifting from one video conference to another through the day.

Face on screen or presentation on screen.

We've all got used to generating meeting ids, screen shares and grids.

But there's a new kid in town promising to shake things up.

MmHmm. What you say when your mouth's full.

It's decided that video conferencing needs excitement.

How does something go from being state of the art to boring in three months?

The gap between one shiny new thing and another is getting squeezed even more.

So what does MmHmm do?

For starters, it changes the dynamics of video conferencing.

You can use it with any of your existing solutions.

It's not an alternative, it sits on a layer above whatever you use.

When you present on Zoom or Google Meet, you get reduced to a square in the top corner.

On MmHmm, you can simply move yourself around. Make yourself  bigger or smaller. And transparent.

You can even have two people in two different places present something on the same screen.

I'm not making this up.

Don't believe me? Here’s the demo for you to check out.
